Day 13 (16.8 mi) Allentown Shelter, THU, 9 May 2013

I am again trying to pick up the pieces, and write about the Journey...
A view from the steps of Allentown Shelter
Still in the Northern portion of PA, and still rocky.  But for the first time, the terrain seemed to relent, and the rocks gave way to miles (literally) of flat, grassy trail.  I kept looking around to make sure I was in the right place, looking for a blaze, thinking this could not possibly be the AT in PA.
The Allentown Hiking Club upkeeps the shelter here.  It has been one of my favorite shelters so far- clean, new wood, and tidy.  I arrived to the shelter early in the PM, which provided a lot of time to wash off and relax.
Walking in the fog in the AM was quite nice, and the sky gave way to lots of sunshine.  I found out about Bridgeford backpacking meals, and a book called "MoMo" written by the same person as the Neverending Story.
